Residents helped each other carry their motorcycles across a flooded road in the Philippines.

Heavy rains brought by summer thunderstorms caused the river to overflow and submerge a village in Davao province on May 23.

Riders who were trying to reach their homes were trapped on the other side of the road as the gushing water could carry their two-wheelers away.

To help them, kind neighbours assisted the riders carry the motorcycles so that they will be able to cross safely and reach home.

Resident Jaymar Villarosa said: ‘The river overflowed and reach our village. The bridge was also damaged so those who worked on the mountain and were trying to go home had a hard time.’

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are approaching their tropical monsoon rainy season. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
