Locals pushed carts and motorcycles across a raging flood after days of consecutive heavy rain in Myanmar.

Footage shows residents helping each other cross the waterlogged road as murky floodwater gushed down the street in Tachileik town, Shan State on August 8.

The deluge is believed to have been caused by the Mae Sai river that runs through Tachileik and overflows during the rainy season.

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
