Officials recovered over $3,000 from a homeless woman's shelter in Jammu and Kashmir.

Footage from June 1 shows boxes full of cash being removed from the shelter in Nowshera.

A group of officials counted the cash and it amounted to 258,507 Indian Rupees ($3,531USD).

The homeless woman was moved to a government shelter.

The authorities of the municipal committee retrieved a huge amount of cash from the shelter of a homeless woman in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on June 1. The incident took place in the Nowshera town of Rajouri district.

The video features a team of municipal employees recovering containers and sacks full of cash and coins from the temporary shelter of a destitute woman. Following this, they rip up all the concealed packets and put the currency notes in one place and the coins in another. Meanwhile, a cop monitors them while a crowd gathers in the region to witness the occurrence. Moreover, the officials begin the counting to estimate the exact value.

On May 31, a team of municipal committee employees, together with the township administration, went over to the place where the homeless woman was residing and told her to pack her belongings to shift her to some government shelter. Afterward, she was taken to a government destitute center in Rajouri town.

The next day, a unit under the direction of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Sambyal, was deployed to her dwelling, where besides other belongings, three plastic cartons and one jute bag were found hidden. Furthermore, the cash was taken into possession by the administration, and a total of Rs. 2,58,507 (USD 3,531) were recovered.
