Australasian Ospreys (Pandion haliaetus cristatus) nest around the iconic Swan River in the heart of Perth, Western Australia’s capital city. A pair of Ospreys built their nest in a Tuart tree (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) overlooking Mosman Bay on the Swan River. The large chick was mostly cared for by the female Osprey. The chick practised for its fledging as it stretched and flapped its wings, begged for food and left the nest to explore the nearby branch. This video sequence was shot over the period November 15 to December 28, 2009.
