In an incident that occurred on Thursday night (1st June) a leopard reportedly ventured into the compound of a residence and caught a dog, but the canine managed to escape the leopard’s mouth and save itself when the wild animal leaped across the compound wall at Padukonaje in the Taluk. The entire episode was captured on CCTV.

The leopard which was reportedly seen roaming near Padukonaje’s resident Sathish’s house on Thursday night had later ventured into the residential compound and tried to catch hold of the dog that was sleeping outside the residence.

Sub-divisional Forest Officer, Manjunatha Ganiga and staff visited the site and spoke to the Shirtaadi Gram Panchayat President Santhosh Kotian. A trap would be laid out to catch the leopard, they informed.
