This is the moment flames ripped through a forest during the Bootleg Fire in Oregon.

Terrifying footage shows the wildfire engulfing trees and spreading to surrounding plants and dried wood on July 24.

Fire officer Richard Parrish said: ‘Finally there was some favourable weather that allowed us to get some firing completed and start to secure our line.’

More than 646 square miles of land have reportedly been scorched by the blaze which started July 6 in the Fremont-Winema National Forest.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, around 22,000 firefighters have been deployed and are combatting active wildfires in several states in America.
