A tragic incident transpired in an Indian village that shook everyone in eastern India's West Bengal on August 20. The incident took place in Sankrail village in Jhargram district.

Visuals feature a group of locals tracking down the elephant calf amid the field and attempting to revive it by giving it a little nudge while the little jumbo trembles as its life begins to fade in front of its eyes. After a while, the locals retrieve the carcass of the mammal from the pit as it was partially buried and inform the officials about the matter while a huge crowd gathers to behold the tragedy.

The elephants in the region are known for straying off their corridors to look for food. In doing the same, the elephant calf got separated from its herd and was found inside the pit while covered in mud. The jumbo still had some life left but died immediately after being recovered from the area.
