Footage filmed on August 27 in Thailand, shows the crazy moment a car is swept away by flash floods.

The vehicle was washed away after being hit by muddy torrents. This came as a tropical storm made landfall in Pattaya, a city on Thailand’s eastern Gulf coast.

Onlooker Khun Kittisak said: "This happened right in front of my house. I couldn’t go out to help because it was flooded. Water came up to my waist. I have an electric door, so I couldn't open it".

Damage was severe in Pattaya. Some roads lied under more than a metre of water.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines are currently in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

The country suffers from regular flash floods due to the chronic underinvestment in its city infrastructure, with drains and sewers overwhelmed with water.
