IAF airlifts critically injured victims after bus falls into gorge in northern India

The ill-fated minibus fell into a gorge in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on October 28. The incident took place in the Doda district.

Visuals feature the Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel airlifting the injured ones from the accident site and bringing them to safety. Meanwhile, the officials tend to the injured and provide them immediate medical attention to avert any tragedy and save their lives.

On receiving the information about the tragic accident, police officials, the army, and local administration launched a massive rescue operation in the region. 11 died while 15 others were injured, who were evacuated to the medical facility. However, seven of the critically injured were airlifted to Jammu for specialized medicare because a request was received by IAF from Divisional Commissioner Jammu for air evacuation of the injured from Doda stadium to Jammu airfield. Responding to the IAF MI 17 Helicopter from Jammu captained by Squadron Leader Ganesh Prasad Honakuppe got airborne within a short notice of an hour and evacuated the victims.
