Customs officials seize gold worth $89,321 in eastern India

The customs officials seized 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) of gold paste worth approximately Rs. 66 lakh (USD 89,321) in eastern India's West Bengal on January 12. The incident took place at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

Visuals feature the officials using a scissor to slit open the pants to recover gold paste concealed in the cavity of the jeans. Following this, they retrieve the precious items and seize them on the spot.

Based on profiling, officers of Kolkata Airport Customs seized gold paste concealed in cavities of jeans of two passengers coming from Dubai. This was a planned operation, and the accused were caught from the arrival gate. Meanwhile, more details are awaited.
