Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad seized gold worth more than $60,000 that was concealed in a motor mixer.

Officers of the customs department seized gold worth Rs 49.69 lakhs (USD 60,168.08) which was concealed inside a motor mixer in southern India's Telangana.

This happened at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on September 3.

Visuals showed one of the officers extracting the gold from the motor mixer. He used a screwdriver to take out a few parts of the structure which then led to him finding the gold which was concealed inside. After some effort, he was able to take out the two chunks of gold which had been hidden into the cavities of the motor mixer. According to a report, the passenger was travelling from Dubai when the customs officials found that he was trying to smuggle the 819 grams (1.806 lbs) of gold concealed inside the motor mixer.

He was caught during the passenger profiling and checking exercise. An investigation has been launched into this matter.
