Rescuers save puppy trapped in cement floor gap in Thailand
Rescuers saved a stray puppy that was trapped in a gap in the concrete of a building's foundations in Thailand.
Monk Phra Wichian, 74, called the animal rescue team after hearing the pup's cries near the property in Prachinburi province past midnight on January 29.
As it was too dark, he had to wait until morning to find the source of the sound: a puppy that was stuck in a gap under the floor of the building.
The specialists arrived with tools to drill through the concrete and bring the pooch out. While they were busy with the operation, the pup's mother named Esaa tried to attack the rescuers upon hearing her offspring yelp in pain from being squeezed in the narrow crevice. An onlooker named Khun Jirawat who was familiar with the protective mum had to take her away before the team could proceed.
The male puppy named Leo was eventually pulled out and returned to his mother successfully. Exhausted from being trapped all night, the hapless mutt immediately began suckling milk from Esaa.
The monk Phra Wichian said: 'This mother dog gave birth to six puppies, and they are living in an empty lot next to the building. I don't know how Leo got trapped under there, but I'm thankful that the volunteers arrived to help.'
The monk added that those looking for a pet can come and adopt from Esaa's litter.
