This is the heartwarming moment rescuers drilled through the walls of a woman's house to save a stray cat stuck inside.

Volunteers were called to homeowner Nittaya's property after she was awoken by the cat's forlorn cries in Rayong, Thailand, on November 26.

Baffled, she roamed around the home to find where the animal was but was shocked to learn the moggie was actually behind one of the walls.

The officers brought power tools with them and pierced through the stone, being careful not to hit the stray animal.

When they made a large enough opening, they reached into the hollow space and pulled the frightened stray out of the cranny.

The striped feline was nervous but lay docile in the rescuers' arms. It was inspected for injuries before being taken to a vet to be checked.

Nittaya has now adopted the kitten and named it 'Brick' after the wall it was stuck inside.

She said: 'I was surprised when I found that a cat was inside the wall. I wonder how it was trapped there inside in the first place.

'He's healthy now so I will care for him as a companion.'
