A lucky rider was inches from death as his bike was crushed by a speeding train in northern India's Uttar Pradesh on 12 February.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, took place near the Acchalda railway station in Auraiya district.

Video shows the rider going across multiple train tracks at a level-crossing.

Suddenly he realises a train is approaching at very high speed from his left. He quickly drops his bike and jumps away from the train, just before it runs over his motorcycle.

The bike is utterly destroyed and the rider is seen walking away gingerly.

It is not clear why the man was going across the level-crossing when a train was passing but it is not uncommon in India for riders in a hurry to cross them rather than wait.
