Driver miraculously survives after car is skewered by pole from delivery truck in front of him
A driver miraculously survived after his car was skewered by a cement pole being carried by a delivery truck in front of him.
Peeramon Wutakkarapaisan, 50, was unscathed after the poles smashed through his windshield in Lamphun province, northern Thailand on March 20.
Terrifying CCTV footage shows the truck suddenly pulling the brakes causing the sedan that was following behind to crash into the pole protruding on its back.
The high-voltage electric pole pierced through the driver's side to the rear of the car, only a few inches away from Peeramon. The sunroof had also been damaged.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Supot Nukat said: 'Fortunately no one was hurt. The car owner and the truck driver are still negotiating to cover the costs of the damage. Road-users should take this as a lesson to be more careful.'
The truck driver Chakkapan Sriwichai, 47 was questioned by police and said he pulled the brakes 'to fix the hanging poles' in an attempt to use the motion of the car suddenly stopping to adjust their position.
He said: 'I saw that the post was hanging on the back of the truck so I put on the brakes but it was too late when I noticed the woman was also driving behind me.'
