A driver on a California highway is lucky to escape alive Tuesday (July 16) morning after his van got stuck underneath the rear of a semi truck in a brutal highway accident.

Footage shows the van wedged firmly underneath the massive truck, as the Rialto Fire Department respond to the grizzly scene at around 3 a.m.

The van's driver was rushed to a local hospital where their condition is unknown at the time. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Rialto Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle vs a semi. Arriving crews located a semi truck on the right hand side of the road with a white van with major front end damage stuck underneath the rear of the trailer of the big rig. The driver of the van who was lucky to survive the impact was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The cause of the collision is unknown and is under investigation by CHP.
