A female passenger lived to tell her tale as she was saved by an alert policeman, moments after she fell while trying to deboard a moving train in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place at the Jogeshwari railway station in Mumbai on April 16.

Visuals, captured on a CCTV camera, showed the woman getting down from one of the coaches of the train and walking alongside two other women. She then boards a different coach, while the train starts moving slowly. However, a few seconds later, the woman tries to deboard and falls down. A policeman, who was present inside the coach, jumps out and pulls the woman away to safety.

Two other women are also seen jumping out.

Reports have identified the policeman as Home Guard Altaf Shafiq Shaikh. His presence of mind saved the woman from what could have been fatal.

The train was travelling from Borivali to Churchgate railway station and had stopped at the Jogeshwari railway station, where the incident took place.
