A commuter was seen using a custom-built bicycle-treadmill hybrid as an alternative to public transportation in Argentina.

Footage taken in Buenos Aires on April 12, 2021, shows inventor Anibal Querol propelling the contraption's wheels by walking on its belt. He named the unique machine a "bicintacleta".

Anibal said he came from a family of bicycle frame manufacturers who have been in business for about 60 years.

He said: "I grew up in the environment of bicycles since my father manufactures bicycle frames. It occurred to me to do something unique, and then the idea of ​​making this bicintacleta came up.

"It took six months to make it work since the project was all trial and error, and finding the transmission was the most difficult. I am very proud and happy with the output and hope many people recognize my invention.'

He added that the bicintacleta could be useful for people who prefer not to ride public transport due to COVID-19.

Because of the number of locals who have expressed interest in his invention, Anibal has applied for a patent and later hopes to sell more units of the bicintacleta.
