This is not a river you want to swim in. When untreated chemicals end up in this river in the Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu, it covers the entire river with a sparkling white frothy foam.

The footage filmed in June 2022 shows the water running down the Kelavarapalli Dam and then building a thick layer of foam that gets washed down the Ponnaiayr river in an otherwise beautiful green scenery.

The water from the nearby chemical companies were released without being treated as a result it forms the frothy water.It was washed down the river from Karnataka and then it reached Tamilnadu into the dam. Whenever the untreated sewage got mixed with water, it affected the surface tension of water, causing a build-up of surface foam.

Untreated sewage water affects the farmlands livestock and even humans who are dependent on the waters for irrigation and other purposes.
