Firefighters in Tamil Nadu's Madurai battle to contain toxic foam that is overflowing from the polluted Vaigai river affected by heavy rain.

Footage from November 28 shows the firefighters spraying the foam with water in an attempt to prevent it from spilling over onto the road.

The foam is a result of the rising water level of the river mixing with wastewater in nearby ponds.

Thick toxic foam was seen floating on the water bodies in Tamil Nadu's Madurai city on 28th November . These videos are from Vagai river and Sellur pond , it's a result of water pollution.
Water level in these two rose significantly after heavy rain for continuous two hours .
The foam resulted due to the mixing of wastewater in ponds and the river . Fire department was seen spraying water to remove it
