Indian army personnel swiftly constructed a bridge in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, after the previous crossing was washed away by floods.

Officials transported 40 vehicles loaded with materials over 400 kilometres to fix the bridge.

Army personnel jumped to quickly reconstruct a 170-feet bridge in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident happened in Kundail village in Udhampur district on July 29.

Visuals showed army personnel pull the heavy bridge with all their might. After a while, they pushed it to ensure that it remained balanced on both sides. According to a report, it was learnt that the bridge was washed away due to flash floods, which interrupted the Machail Mata Yatra. Upon being requested by the civil administration for assistance, the army officials jumped to action and transferred over 40 vehicle loads of stored goods for a distance of over 400km.

They did use multiple vehicles for doing this shifting work due to road restrictions. A tireless effort from the army personnel, who worked day and night, finally yielded in the bridge being reconstructed. This was applause-worthy as they did it in the presence of inclement weather.

Also, there was a restricted back space available and manual effort was needed for the stores to be carried to the site. But they pulled it off, despite all challenges, which stands as an example of their resilience and grit.


The pilgrimage was able to be resumed and the walking time was almost cut down by 15km.
