This fortunate worker found a diamond worth over $6,000 lying on the ground in Panna, Madhya Pradesh, on August 11.

The labourer located the gem on his way home from a temple celebrating the Raksha Bandhan festival.

He immediately deposited it in a diamond office where they valued the gem at $6,261.30.

A worker's life took a turn for good when he found a diamond worth Rs 5,00,000 (USD 6,261.30) while returning from a temple in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place in the Panna city of the eponymous district on August 11. He reported it to the diamond office on August 20.

Visuals showed the person working at the diamond office, holding the precious item and weighing it. Another visual showed the man's house which was not in a good condition. There were leaks and cracks all over.

According to reports, while returning from a temple on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, the laborer found a shining diamond on the ground. At first, he took it as a piece of glass and kept it at his house.

He then showed it to the people, after which he came to know that it is a gem-quality diamond, which made him expectedly very happy. He immediately went to the diamond office and deposited the gem. The weight of the diamond is 2.83 carats and its estimated cost is Rs 5 lakh (USD 6,261.30).
