Police intercept truck, seize pine wood worth $13k in eastern India

Police in eastern India's West Bengal intercepted a truck and seized pine wood valued at several thousand US dollars.

The incident took place on April 7 in Barobisha area of Alipurduar district.

Visual showed the seized wood kept at the Barobisha Police outpost.

According to reports, the seized goods were being smuggled from Tripura's Agartala to Bhilai in Chhattisgarh. Police intercepted a truck and seized the smuggled goods.

The seized lot is estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh (USD 13,159).

The pine wood is extremely valuable as it is found only in the mountainous regions.

Police have arrested the truck's driver.
