Couple steal gold chains worth $3,285 from jewellery shop in central India

A couple stole two gold chains weighing 40 grams from a shop in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place on March 25 in Betul district of the state.

Visuals, caught on a CCTV camera, showed the man and his wife choosing the gold chain from several displays in front of them, when the man stealthily took one away.

According to reports, two mangalsutras- a gold chain worn by married Hindu women in India- were stolen by the couple.

The chains are estimated to be worth Rs 2.5 lakh (USD 3,285).

A case has been registered at the Betul Kotwali Police Station.
