Baboons dip in pool like crazy teenagers having party
A baboon family had a "pool party" to cool off from the summer heat. The funny monkeys took turns dipping into the water.
Candy Ann Boddy was visiting her guest home with her husband and son near Cape Town, South Africa, when she spotted a trio of monkeys playing in her backyard.
Hilarious footage shows the baboons taking turns jumping into the water while the others watched from the side in a primate pool party.
Boddy, 45, filmed the scene as the animals appeared to target each other and divebombed as close as possible sending splashes directly into their face.
Boddy said: “It was so amazing to see them doing this and having such fun. It was well needed after having such hot days in Cape Town just days before their swim. I think they had just had enough of the heat and the pool looked just too inviting".
According to Boddy, the baboons were in and out for about 20 minutes and then hung around a bit like they always do.
She said: "They rarely swim. When they do come into the village, they normally just pass through our garden have some berries from our tree, drink the water and move on. They don't normally hang around for a pool party. They do not live in the village but from time to time they do wander in. There are baboon monitors who are with them all the time and they lead them out of the village, back to the Slanghoek mountains.”
