Brave boat crew rescue troubled passenger who plunged into Thai river 'over money problems'
This is the heroic moment brave crew and passengers rescued a troubled woman who plunged into a Thai river while she was stressed 'over money problems.'
The lady, 50, was aboard a boat crossing the Chao Phraya River from Samut Prakan province when she suddenly walked into the water while the vessel was docking at the Wat Bang Na Nork Port in Bangkok on May 17.
Shocked passengers and crew leapt to her aid bringing life preservers and vests as they pulled her out of the river.
She was rescued unhurt and brought to the Bang Kho Laem district police station to calm down.
The woman allegedly told the cops she jumped into the river because she was stressed over 'personal issues', including a 20,000-baht ($580) debt.
Boat driver Boonserm Pankwan, 45, said: 'The passenger stood from her seat and I thought she was just preparing to leave the boat. Suddenly, the other passengers were all screaming that someone had fallen overboard, so I leapt into the water to help her.
'Another man also swam over to help, while the crew threw life preservers and ropes to aid in the rescue.
'Our company has trained us to handle situations like this. We always have equipment like life jackets, ropes, and buoys ready in case of an emergency.'
