Aftermath visuals of cyclone Biparjoy shows destruction in Mandvi
Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in Gujarat's coast yesterday and continued till midnight.
The storm led to heavy rainfall and intense tidal waves in several parts of India, especially Mumbai and Gujarat. As of now, over 20 people have been reported injured. Around 1 lakh people living in vulnerable areas were evacuated before the landfall as a precaution and deployed disaster management units including Army, Navy and IAF teams for rescue and relief measures, The administration shifted people from nearly 120 villages located between zero and 10 km from the seashore in Kutch district.
According to Alok Pandey, Relief Commissioner of Gujarat -- Around 22 people have been injured due to the storm. So far, there is no news of anyone's death. 23 animals have died, 524 trees have fallen, and electric poles have also fallen in some places, due to which there is no electricity in 940 villages: Many trees and electricity poles were uprooted near Jakhau and Mandvi towns in Kutch district while tin sheets used in house construction were blown away as cyclone Biparjoy made landfall on Thursday evening. The landfall process of the cyclone started at 4.30 pm and will be completely by midnight, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Remember, this was the second cyclone to hit the state in two years after 'Tauktae' in May 2021
