A newly licensed driver crashed into a restaurant, injuring two people in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Nanchong City in Sichuan Province on July 2, shows a car suddenly losing control and crashing into a hot pot restaurant, knocking down customers who were dining.

Nanchong Traffic Police Brigade responded on July 3, stating that the driver involved in the accident, named Du, had received his driving license for the first time in January this year.

On the afternoon of the incident, Du was driving a Chongqing A-plate compact car along Xihua Road in Shunqing District. When he tried to make a U-turn and slow down at the traffic light intersection of Phoenix Terrace, he lost control due to improper operation and crashed into the hot pot restaurant, causing damage to the vehicle and the shop, and injuring two diners in the restaurant - one suffered burn injuries and the other suffered abrasions, but neither are in life-threatening condition.

Currently, the driver has been cleared of drunk driving, and further handling of the accident is still in progress.

7月2日下午，四川南充市顺庆区西华路发生一起交通事故，一辆小车突然失控冲进一家火锅店，将正在就餐的顾客撞倒在地。涉事餐饮店监控画面显示，事故发生在7月2日下午6点49分左右。当时，有两桌顾客坐在临街玻璃幕墙的位置，一桌顾客已经开始用餐，另一桌有顾客坐在桌边准备用餐，一旁有服务员正在上菜。突然，一辆黑色小车从餐饮店外直接撞破玻璃幕墙冲进餐饮店内，将用餐的客人连同火锅一起撞翻在地。
3日，南充市交警支队直属四大队回应称，涉事司机姓杜，今年1月初次领取驾照。事发当天下午，杜某驾驶渝A牌小型普通客车沿顺庆区西华路行驶至凤凰台红绿灯路口掉头减速时，因操作不当，冲入旁边的火锅店内，致车辆、店铺受损，店内就餐人员2人受伤，一人烫伤，一人擦伤，均无生命危险。目前，驾驶员已排除酒驾情况，事故后续工作还在进一步处理中。
