'Camel jams' become summer norm as tourists flock to China's iconic scenic spot
Astonishing "camel Jams" sightings became the new norm at an iconic scenic spot in northwestern China.
The spectacular video was filmed in Dunhuang City in Gansu Province on July 5. Tourists rode camels, winding their way through the undulating terrain of the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake Scenic Area
As the summer heat intensifies, the tourist influx to Dunhuang shows no signs of cooling down. On July 5 alone, the city's six major attractions welcomed a staggering 51,333 visitors.
Zhou Bin, the person in charge of the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake Scenic Area, expressed that the camel jams, which used to only occur during extended holidays, have now become a daily occurrence.
To handle the influx, an additional entrance gate on the east has been opened this year to allow tourists to enter the scenic area quickly without queueing, thus alleviating the pressure on the central entrance.
Moreover, as soaring temperatures pose challenges, various cooling measures have been implemented across all attractions, including the installation of mist-spraying devices. The provision of additional sightseeing vehicles and shady pavilions have also been arranged to ensure a comfortable visit for the tourists.
Reportedly, as of July 4, the six major attractions in the area have received a whopping total of 2.2194 million visitors this year.
