International Kite Festival in Jogja, Central Java, Indonesia

People from various regions were flooded with Parangkusumo Beach, Parangtritis, Kretek, Bantul, Yogyakarta to witness the 2023 Jogja International Kite Festival (JIKF). and attracted thousands of spectators.

The weather is hot with quite strong winds on the outskirts of the south coast of Yogyakarta, colored kites with a variety of unique shapes for tourists to enjoy. Visitors come from all ages ranging from young people who travel with their friends or with their families.

"What's interesting about this kite is that it's really big, it turns out that the shape is also unique, funny, and has many different shapes. This event is once a year, so it's a rare event, so I'm just happy," said Anita, a student

Many parents who bring their children come to this festival to see the unique giant kites and can also play their own kites which can be purchased at the location.

"Actually, he just arrived and just bought a kite for his nephew. As a family, there are brothers and nephews and parents too," said Anisa, a visitor from Sleman to beritasatu.com.

This year's activity is supported by the DI Yogyakarta Tourism Office and Paniradya Pati Privileges DIY with special funds. There were 13 teams from abroad and 50 teams from within the country who participated in enlivening the kite festival which was one of the much-awaited agendas by the public.

The festival was held from 15 to 16 July 2023 attended by nine countries with five categories namely traditional kites, two-dimensional kites, three-dimensional kites, rokaku challenge, dragon train, and mini dragon train with a total of around 1001 kites joining to compete for the Cup Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono
