Tense bodycam footage shows a heroic policeman saving the life of a choking infant.

Police were called to a one-month-old baby boy who was "blue, unconscious and not breathing" after choking on breast milk and baby cereal."

Deputy Pacheco rushed to the parent's apartment in Centennial, Colorado, USA, and ran upstairs before performing CPR on the child.

The boy, called Carlos, was choking on a white substance but soon spat it up, regained consciousness and began to cry.

Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said: "He ran upstairs and found the mother holding her baby. "

"Deputy Pacheco immediately started CPR on the baby with chest compressions followed by back thrusts."

""The baby was choking on a thick, white substance that turned out to be a combination of breast milk and baby cereal."

The baby who is named Carlos has now been returned home and is in excellent health.

The incident happened on August 13.
