Kung fu master's narrow escape in Chinese car stunt gone wrong
A kung fu master in China narrowly avoided a mishap during a car stunt.
Video filmed in Liupanshui City in Guizhou Province on August 10, shows a 75-year-old man lying on the ground with three wooden boards placed on top of him. As a medium-sized truck began to slowly roll over the boards, one of them suddenly flipped, causing the vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. Within moments, over ten bystanders rushed to the scene, pulling the man out from beneath the truck.
The daredevil, identified as Qigong master Gao Rongxiang, started his training in martial arts and qigong at the tender age of 9, apprenticing under various folk masters. By the 1960s, he was touring and performing across the nation.
Speaking about the incident on August 15, Gao mentioned that he's been performing less frequently in recent years. "The vehicle moved a bit too quickly on that day, causing the board to flip. Thankfully, I wasn't injured," he remarked. When quizzed about whether he sought medical attention, Gao confidently stated, "I always keep some reserve during my performances. There was no need for a hospital visit or medication. I feel fit as a fiddle, ready to perform again right away."
Gao has practised qigong for several decades and has toured both domestically and internationally. His jaw-dropping acts, which include swallowing live snakes, being "torn apart by five horses", and the car-over-body stunt, have astounded audiences worldwide. Despite the risk associated with such acts, Gao insists he has never been seriously injured, only facing minor mishaps occasionally.
In addition to touring, Gao also revealed he runs a martial arts school. "The students are all children, and the tuition for a term is several thousand yuan. We mainly focus on martial arts and wrestling, aiming to bolster the health and fitness of the younger generation. We do not involve them in touring performances," he shared.
