A pair of tourists sparked concern when they were seen riding on top of a rented car in Japan.

Footage shows the two men - one shirtless and another in a white sando - perched on the black Alphard vehicle as they drove through Okinawa Prefecture on August 20.

An onlooker who recorded the tourists wrote online: 'If you had a license, you should know how dangerous it is to drive this way. Aren't you a little too excited to come to Okinawa? As an instructor, I couldn't overlook it, so I took appropriate measures.

'Of course, I reported them to the police! I think they will handle it properly.'

Speaking to local media, he added that the holidaymakers were spotted near the Naha Airport, adding he believed they had borrowed the car from a rental company nearby.

He said: 'I don't know if they think they're funny or not, but I want them to realize that they're selfish and endangering those around them.'
