Dirty floods swamped a family's home following days of heavy rain in eastern Thailand.

Debris-filled water entered the residents' garage and submerged it in inches of water as a monsoon storm battered Chanthaburi province on September 2.

The family's furniture were safe as the house was elevated on stilts to protect it from the seasonal floods.

Resident Chaweewan Seesan said: 'The flood rushed in from the nearby forest. It had been raining for three days and three nights, but this happens every year so we are we are already used to it.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
