A bear was rescued and relocated by wildlife officials after it was found wandering around a residential area in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, on September 4.

Footage shows the animal roaming around nearby locals' homes.

Local wildlife officials eventually managed to capture the bear after it spent five days in the area and then released it back into the wild.

In a relieving incident, a bear found its happy ending as it was strayed for days in a residential area and was safely released in the forest after rescue by the forest department in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.

The incident took place in Nandyal district on the intervening night of 4th and 5th September.

Visuals showed the bear roaming around in the village. In another visual, it was seen sitting in a room quietly. The forest officials were gazing at the wild animal to catch hold of it. Finally, after a long struggle, it was caught and released into the jungle.

As per reports, a bear that lost its way out of the forest strayed into the Mahanandi area for the past five days thereby creating terror and panic amongst the locals, employees and devotees of the area. The forest officials initiated a rescue operation headed by DFO Vinit Kumar as the bear was in a cage inside a room where it was hiding and was finally released in Nallamala forest during the early hours of the day.

The rescue took about 4 to 5 hours, as a lot of locals had gathered to attack the bear. The forest department with the help of local police brought the crowd to a halt.

No reports of any injury caused to or by the bear during the entire rescue operation.
