A lion pride launched a brutal attack on a crocodile stranded on land.

Muhammad Mulla was on safari in Kafue National Park, Zambia, on September 17 when he spotted a group of lions surrounding some prey.

Dramatic footage captured the moment two of the predators struck out at the crocodile while managing to dodge its powerful jaws.

Despite its escape attempts, the crocodile was overwhelmed by the rest of the pride who pinned its body down while others attacked its head.

Muhammad said: “I have never seen anything like this before in my life. It is very rare for lions to attack crocodiles.

“I believe they were taking advantage of the crocodile being out in the open and away from water so it couldn’t escape.

“It was extremely exciting to see. The lions made quick work of the crocodile. From start to end, the attack last for five minutes at most.”
