Office ceiling crashes down due to exploding heating pipes in China
An office ceiling crashed down due to the exploding heating pipes in northern China.
Dramatic video filmed in Fushun in Liaoning Province on October 31 shows a ceiling suddenly giving way, unleashing a deluge of water into an office building.
Eyewitness Mr Zhang, who works in the building, recounted the terrifying moment. "We were in our workspace when we heard the sound of dripping water. We were about to record the leak when, before we could even step into the room, the ceiling collapsed," he said.
Upon investigation, it was found that the culprit behind the flood was a burst pipe from the underfloor heating system. Quick-thinking staff members promptly shut off the water valve and the electricity to prevent further damage.
Currently, personnel are working tirelessly to clear the accumulated water. The next step will be to engage professionals to repair the damaged pipe.
Water flowed from the fourth floor down to the first, affecting a total office space of 800 square metres. Significant damage was noted, with ceiling panels and walls being severely affected.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
