Huntington Beach: One Man Arrested After Homicide Investigation

On Monday, November 6, 2023, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Huntington Beach Police
Department (HBPD) responded to reports of a family disturbance at a residence on the
17000 block of Friml Lane. Upon arrival, patrol officers contacted the involved parties and
secured the location. During the initial investigation, officers located a deceased adult
female. She had passed away under suspicious circumstances.
Detectives from the HBPD Crimes Against Persons (CAP) Unit responded and assumed
the investigation. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Orange County
Sheriff’s Department- Coroner Division and Crime Lab also responded to assist. Based
on interviews and evidence located at the scene, 34-year-old Richard Paul Rodriguez of
Holbrook, Arizona, was arrested and booked on one count of PC 187(a) – Murder.
The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, and no further details will be released
at this time.

At approximately 5:00 PM Monday evening, Huntington Beach Police received a call of a disturbance at a house on the 7000 block of Friml Lane in Huntington Beach.
When units arrived, they found one person deceased in the trunk of a car.
There were no obvious signs of trauma on the expired party, but police detectives are still investigating due to the nature of the 9-1-1 call and location of the body.
Detectives (as of 10:50 PM) are waiting for the arrival of the HBPD Crime Scene Investigation team as well as the Orange County Coroner
