Locals rescued a stranded dog that was clinging to river steps - carefully avoiding being bitten by the frightened pooch.

The residents noticed the struggling mutt becoming increasingly exhausted as it could not climb up the concrete structure. With half of its body submerged in the water, it was quickly becoming weaker during the predicament in Lopburi province, Thailand on February 19.

Footage shows the Good Samaritans pulling the canine to safety with a rope. They fed it afterwards as it looked hungry.

One of the locals Ongard Jayapoom said: ‘We helped the dog that fell into the water. It was safe and unhurt.'
