Shopper engulfed as floor collapses at Chinese supermarket
A woman shopping in a supermarket on the first floor of a shopping centre suddenly found herself engulfed as the floor collapsed beneath her.
The terrifying moment was filmed in Zhenjiang City in Jiangsu Province on March 23.
Reports indicate that the incident trapped the female shopper and a worker who was carrying out construction work downstairs.
Following the incident, firefighters arrived at the scene promptly and managed to rescue both individuals. Fortunately, they sustained only minor injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.
In response to the incident, Mr. Huang, the person in charge of the shopping centre, explained that the collapse was caused by damage to load-bearing walls during construction on the ground floor.
One of the construction workers on the ground floor sustained leg injuries from fallen debris, while the customer who fell suffered fractures. Mr. Huang stated, "As they are our customers, we, as the responsible party, have been actively handling the aftermath and providing necessary assistance."
Currently, investigations into the incident are ongoing, with authorities working to determine the causes and take appropriate actions.
