Spain: 6 Million Euros Worth of Contraband Seized, 20 Arrested During Raids At Illegal Tobacco Factories in Madrid

In a significant operation, the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil has successfully dismantled two clandestine tobacco factories in Humanes de Madrid and Cordoba. As a result of the operation, the authorities successfully dismantled two large-scale and highly sophisticated illicit cigarette manufacturing facilities in Lucena and Humanes de Madrid.
The crackdown targeted an international organization involved in the distribution of contraband tobacco, alongside money laundering activities. Authorities seized approximately 33 tons of tobacco leaves and 6 million counterfeit cigarettes.
Among the counterfeit products destined for sale in the black markets of Portugal and France were items from leading brands.
The confiscated contraband, including the counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco leaves, is estimated to be worth around 7.6 million euros, according to investigators.
