Exhausted Chinese passenger shocks train riders by napping on luggage rack
An exhausted passenger shocked train riders by napping on a luggage rack in eastern China.
The bizarre video was filmed in Nanjing City in Jiangsu Province on June 1.
A man stunned fellow passengers by climbing onto a luggage rack for a nap during a train journey. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3:00 am, when the train was packed, with people filling the aisles and even the area near the washbasins.
Eyewitness Ms. Cao recounted that the man, appearing exhausted after standing for an extended period, looked around and noticed the empty luggage rack above.
To the astonishment of everyone, he used his backpack as a makeshift step, placed it on a table by the window, and clambered onto the rack, where he lay down to rest.
Cao, along with other passengers, was in disbelief and attempted to dissuade the man, explaining the danger and the breach of train regulations. Despite their efforts, the man seemed too tired to heed their warnings, simply responding, "I'm too tired, just need a rest."
China's railway customer service representatives later clarified that, according to regulations, luggage racks are strictly for baggage and not for passengers to rest or sleep on.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
