Elephants show who's boss by chasing other animals away from watering hole

These two boisterous elephants were seen chasing other animals away from a watering hole in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Watching elephants interact with other animals near any water source in the wild, is mostly an action packed and rather funny event. As the largest land mammals on our planet, elephants rule the savannah with their size and strength and with an attitude that they are the boss.

"This attitude can be seen many times when they interact with dangerous predators and also when they compete for water with all kinds of other non-dangerous animals. Elephants just don’t like sharing ‘their’ water with any other animals. While on safari in the Kruger National Park, we stopped at a small watering hole during the heat of the day.

"There were an incredible number of different species of wildlife near the watering hole, including impala, blue wildebeest, giraffe and baboons. All the animals were drinking and standing in the shade nearby, peacefully and calm. The peace and calm didn’t last for long. Suddenly we spotted these two young bull elephants, casually approaching the watering hole from a distance.

"I could see they were full of attitude, like two naughty schoolboys, ready to cause some sort of trouble. And so it went, the two young and very cheeky elephant bulls started having a go at the impala on their way to the water, chasing after the antelope with their intimidating head shakes and trumpeting sounds.

"The funniest thing is that the two elephants barely had a drink of water before they started again, chasing a small herd of blue wildebeest around with the same intimidating attitude and behaviour.

"A few baboons also quickly scattered out of the way in the process, and all of this was so hilarious to watch. It looked to me as if those two young boys weren’t really there for the water.

"They were there for the fun, loving it to chase all the other animals around, showing them all they are the biggest around and the boss of the watering holes in the African bush. Why? Because they can, and they know it. A very funny and entertaining safari moment out in the wild that all the safari goers on the vehicle really enjoyed."
