Brave Chinese boy self-rescues after elevator plunges to basement in dramatic malfunction
On June 11 in Chongqing, southern China, a surveillance footage captured a dramatic incident where a young boy experienced a sudden elevator malfunction, plunging from the 9th floor to the basement level 3. Remarkably, the boy remained composed and implemented effective self-rescue measures.
Upon the elevator's failure, the boy quickly pressed the emergency call button, alerting external responders. He then illuminated all floor buttons, a move that could potentially slow the descent or stop the elevator at a mid-point. Additionally, he adopted a semi-crouched position, holding onto the handrails to lower his center of gravity and minimize potential injuries during the fall.
Thanks to his quick thinking and actions, the boy safely exited the elevator. Once out, he even warned other passersby about the elevator’s malfunction.
The boy’s mother reported that he was deeply shaken and cried upon arriving home, but she expressed immense pride in her son’s calmness and bravery during the crisis.
