A lighter exploded on a hot meal, sending scalding oil flying in central China.

The terrifying CCTV footage was filmed in Zhumadian City in Henan Province on June 18.

According to Mr Shi, one of the men involved, he accidentally left the lighter on the hot meal. Within just ten minutes, the high temperature caused the gas inside the lighter to expand rapidly, leading to the explosion. The powerful blast sent oil splattering from the meal, hitting one of his friends in the eye.

Fortunately, a preliminary check revealed that the victim's eye was not harmed.
