Super chef saves choking customer and waiter having fit in the same day
A hero noodle shop owner saved a customer who was choking on his food - then helped a waiter having a fit on the same day.
Super chef Ploy Sri was in the kitchen when an ex-pat, who was dining with his wife on an extra large serving of Thai noodles, collapsed over his food as he could not breathe in Udon Thani province.
CCTV footage shows Ploy rushing to the man who had been coughing violently and did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him on May 29.
After four thrusts, the customer calmed down as the food had gone down from blocking his pipes.
Her employee Piyathida Pimpa said: ‘My boss has been really hands-on with everything since we opened in 2023.
‘That day, the couple was about to finish their meal, but the foreigner coughed and fainted from his meal. Ploy didn't waste time and helped them.'
The customer was safe and paid his bill at the restaurant. But Ploy was called into action when another accident happened later that afternoon.
Footage shows an employee having epileptic seizures while cooking as the Ploy assisted him.
Piyathida added: ‘My boss Ploy studied nursing before and is trained to assist in emergencies. The customer thanked Ploy, and my previous co-worker resigned after that as he hadn't disclosed his condition before applying. Working in a kitchen is very dangerous for him.'
