Watch these oddly delicious looking cookies with fried bugs being made
A bakery makes oddly delicious-looking cookies - topped with protein-rich deep-fried bugs.
Footage shows the baker putting all the ingredients in a bowl and mixing them to make the cookies in Ubon Ratchathani province, Thailand, on July 24.
The dough was piped onto a tray before being topped with fried crickets seasoned with spices.
Baker Natcha Jaru said: ‘I went to the province and tasted a unique snack. I thought it would taste good on my cookie.
‘I tried to bake a batch and was a hit with my customers. They loved the unusual combination. The cookies were sweet and savoury.'
The bug cookies were baked to perfection in the oven before being packaged and shipped to customers.
Eating insects, also known as entomophagy, is gaining popularity worldwide due to its health benefits. Insects are said to be excellent sources of protein, comparable to or even surpassing beef.
They also contain essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats, including iron, zinc, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
