Motorboat in Indonesia Sinks, 40 Victims, 37 people Survived, 3 people died

The Samarinda motor ship sank in Anambas waters, Riau Islands, Indonesia, on Friday 27 July 2024 evening. 3 people died as a result of this incident.

"KM Samarinda was first reported to have experienced an incident at around 17.20 WIT to the Anambas SAR Post at coordinates 3°17.167' N 106°14.124' E. Receiving this information, the Anambas SAR Post personnel immediately moved to the location," said Budiman, Head of the SAR Operations Sub-Section. Natuna in her statement.

The Joint SAR Team from Basarnas, Lanal Tarempa together with TNI-Polri SAR elements, BPBD Anambas, succeeded in saving 37 of the total 40 passengers. However, 3 of them died.

The following are the identities of the victims who died: 1. Siti Aisyah, 2. Reva, and 3. Yurnalisa.

KM Samarinda departs from Tarempa Harbor for Matak Harbor at 16.40 WIB. They brought workers from Matak.

"It is estimated that the ship was unbalanced because many of the ship's passengers climbed onto the roof/hatch of the ship and caused the ship to capsize and sink," he concluded.
