A snake catcher from India died after getting bitten by a giant 6ft cobra.

Sunil Nagpure, 44, spent years of his career saving and rehabilitating snakes in Phulchur, Gondia City.

However, he died shortly after he tried to capture a giant cobra after a reported sighting in Karanja.

Footage shows Sunil just moments away from closing the bag where he was putting the cobra when it suddenly escaped and bit him on the hand.

'Has it bitten you,' a man is heard shouting.

'Yes,' a snake rescuer responded before nodding his head and shaking his right hand in pain.

'Let's go to the hospital,' one of the men said.

'Should I call for an ambulance,' a man who watched the horror unfolding before his eyes, asked the snake rescuer who despite being bitten closed the gunny bag to walk out of the home.

Onlookers did not seem that bothered and even laughed when it happened as they thought the expert would know what to do.

But Sunil passed way because of the spread of the venom, despite getting medical help from the hospital.
