A firefighter was lowered into a deep water well to rescue a boy trapped after falling in southern China.

The dramatic rescue was filmed in Chengdu City in Sichuan Province on August 11.

Local authorities were quickly alerted, and the dedicated team from the Xihe Street government’s specialised firefighting and rescue unit rushed to the scene.

The well, measuring a staggering 10 metres deep, became the site of a tense rescue operation. Fortunately, the child was found floating on the water’s surface and was able to communicate with the rescuers, providing some relief amidst the urgency.

The narrow well opening presented a significant challenge for the rescue team. Firefighters worked diligently to comfort the child while deploying a rescue tripod to facilitate the operation.

One firefighter bravely descended into the well to assist the child, equipping them with rescue gear to ensure their safety.

According to the child’s family, the child had been playing outside when they fell into the well. Despite the presence of a one-metre-high protective wall around the well’s opening, they did not anticipate the danger. The family’s initial realisation came only when they heard the child’s cries and discovered them at the bottom of the well.

After approximately 10 minutes of intense effort, the rescuers successfully lifted the child to safety. Remarkably, the child emerged from the ordeal with no serious injuries.

据孩子家人说，孩子在外面玩耍，他们看到井口有一米多高的防坠落花墙也没在意，没想到
过了一会儿就听见孩子哭声，寻声一看是孩子坠落井底。

经过近10分钟的处置，消防员将朋友从井下救出，所幸孩子并无大碍。
